Leukocytes

DESCRIPTION:
In the blood of healthy people, there are only mature cells – leukocytes. In some diseases, in addition to mature cells, younger cells can also enter the peripheral blood. The number of leukocytes in the blood ranges between 3.4 x 109/L and 9.7 x 109/L. Values below 3 x 10 per nine/L represent leukopenia, and above 10 x 10 per nine/L leukocytosis.

DETERMINATION:
The number of leukocytes is determined on a hematology counter. The sample for analysis is whole blood (EDTA).

RESULT:
The reference interval depends on gender, age and the method of determination. The reference interval is displayed on each validated result.
