DESCRIPTION:
Bone ALP (alkaline phosphatase) is a bone-specific isoenzyme of alkaline phosphatase. It is a glycoprotein whose activity is recorded on the surface of osteoblasts (bone cells that are involved in the growth and development of bones). About 50% of the activity of total ALP, in adults with normal liver function, originates from bone, i.e. bone ALP. It is not necessary to fast before blood collection.

CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE:
An increase in the catalytic activity of the bone isoenzyme ALP occurs in increased bone growth, fracture healing, osteomalacia and osteoporosis, in Paget’s disease, in rickets, hyperparathyroidism, and malignant diseases.

The reference interval depends on the age, marked on each validated result. The result is ready in 2 weeks.
