Serum albumin

DESCRIPTION:

Albumin is one of the most important serum proteins synthesized in the liver. The role of albumin in the human body is broad, apart from the transport role, because Ca++, bilirubin, free fatty acids, drugs and steroids are bound to them, and it plays a role in maintaining osmotic pressure.

DETERMINATION:
Photometric method with bromcresol-greenil. The sample for analysis is serum or plasma. Do not use hemolyzed samples. The stability of the sample is one month at 2ºC – 8ºC, 7 days at 15ºC – 25ºC

CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE:
An imbalance in the concentration of albumin in the body can indicate liver diseases, malnutrition, dehydration or dermatitis. Albumin concentration is altered in skin burns.

RESULT:
The reference interval depends on age, gender and work method. The reference interval is displayed on each validated result.
