DESCRIPTION:
Complete blood count – the term complete blood count (CBC) means the determination of: – Leukocyte count, – Erythrocyte count, – Hemoglobin concentration, – Hematocrit, – Platelet count, – Erythrocyte index (MCV, MCH, MCHC, RDW), – Platelet index (MTV, PDW), – DKS (differential blood count = morphological examination of blood smear). Hematological tests are performed on material obtained by blood collection from a vein or by taking capillary blood by pricking the cheekbone, earlobe or heel of a newborn. The results obtained from the capillary blood test are about 5% lower than the results obtained from the venous blood test.
DETERMINATION:
Determination method: Electronic blood cell counter. The sample for analysis is whole blood (EDTA).
RESULT:
The reference interval depends on gender, age and the method of determination. The reference interval is displayed on each validated result.
