DESCRIPTION:
Anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) is produced by the gonads (ovaries and testes). The determination of AMH gives us an insight into the function of the ovaries. In women during reproductive age, AMH concentration corresponds to the ovarian reserve (potential number of immature egg cells). Determination of AMH has become common in medically assisted fertilization procedures.
DETERMINATION:
SAMPLE: serum METHOD: electrochemiluminescence (ECLIA) – COBAS
CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE:
The concentration of AMH must be determined when evaluating ovarian function, in case of fertility problems, and determining the onset of menopause. Significantly elevated AMH values occur in polycystic ovary syndrome.
RESULT:
REFERENCE VALUES: Depending on reproductive age. Marked on each validated result.
