ASO (latex)

DESCRIPTION:
ASO is a quantitative test for measuring ASO in serum or plasma.

DETERMINATION:
Turbidimetric method of determining ASO concentration in serum or plasma. The sample for analysis must not be hemolyzed or lipemic. The stability of the sample is 8 days at 2ºC to 8ºC, one month at -20ºC.

CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE:
Streptolysin O is a toxic immunogenic enzyme produced by ß-hemolytic streptococci of groups A, C and G. Measurement of ASO antibodies is useful in the diagnosis of rheumatic fever, acute glomerulonephritis and streptococcal infections.
