Microalbumins in urine

DESCRIPTION:
Microalbuminuria is defined as albumin excretion between 20 and 200 µg/min. Microalbuminuria is a marker of increased risk of diabetic nephropathy and cardiovascular disease in patients with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, as well as in patients with non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus.

DETERMINATION:
The concentration of microalbumin in urine is determined by the turbidimetric method. The sample for analysis is a portion of urine or daily urine. The sample is stable for 7 days at 2 to 8°C.

RESULT:
The reference interval depends on gender, age and the method of determination. The reference interval is displayed on each validated result.
