Instructions for preparation before the test
• 7 days before the test, it is not recommended to take medications that can cause bleeding in the digestive system and thus lead to false positive test results for occult bleeding in the stool. Such drugs are aspirin, indomethacin, phenylbutazone, corticosteroids, etc.
• testing should be postponed in case of diarrhea, menstruation, bleeding from hemorrhoids or hematuria
• before the test for occult bleeding in the stool, which is based on the immunochemical method, no special diet is required before taking the sample
• it is recommended to analyze three consecutive stools over three days
For an accurate result, it is necessary to properly collect the samples:
Samples are collected over three consecutive days in three containers. The containers contain a cover with an applicator with which we take a sample from three different places on the surface of three consecutive stools. Containers with samples are stored in the refrigerator, and after the third stool, the samples are delivered to the laboratory for analysis.
