DESCRIPTION:<\/strong>
\nLuteinizing hormone (LH) is a hormone of the pituitary gland that, by its action, causes maturation of the egg cell, luteinization of the granulosa cells and, along with other factors, the expulsion of the egg cell from the follicle (ovulation). The level of LH in the first phase of the cycle is low, and in the middle of the cycle there is an increase in concentration. The total duration of the elevated LH value is about 50 hours, and a threefold increase in the LH level lasting 24-36 hours is necessary for the maturation of the ovum. Ovulation occurs 34-36 hours after the initial LH surge, or 10-12 hours after the highest possible LH concentration. In the anovulatory cycle, there is no increase in LH. The LH hormone is a glycoprotein consisting of 2 subunits (alpha and beta subunits).<\/p>\n

The alpha subunit is similar to the alpha subunit of FSH, hCG and TSH. The beta-subunit of the LH hormone differs from other glycoprotein hormones and is biochemically specific. LH causes the ovulation of the follicle that has matured under the action of FSH and the secretion of progesterone from the corpus luteum. In men, LH called ICSH (interstitial cell \u2013 stimulating hormone) causes the production of testosterone in the interstitial cells of the testes. In men and women, LH secretion is regulated by a balance of positive and negative feedback including the hypothalamus-pituitary connection, reproductive organs, and pituitary and steroid sex hormones. Lutropin (LH) is a gonadotropin hormone that is produced in the pituitary gland and provides the same information as the FSH level.<\/p>\n

DETERMINATION:<\/strong>
\nDetermination method: ECLIA. Sample: serum or plasma (heparin or EDTA). The sample is stable for 14 days at 2-8\u00b0C, 6 months at -20\u00b0C.<\/p>\n
