The test for occult bleeding refers to the demonstration of acute, invisible bleeding from the upper part of the digestive tract or bleeding in the lower part of the digestive tract. The test for occult bleeding in the stool should be included in the regular annual systematic examination for the purpose of prevention and early detection of colon cancer. This test is recommended for all people who are over 50 years old, and those who have confirmed colon cancer in their family history should have this test done annually after reaching the age of 40.<\/p>\n<p>The test for occult bleeding in the stool, which is performed in our polyclinic, is an immunochemical test that is completely specific for human hemoglobin, which means that there are no false positive or false negative results. Therefore, no special diet is required before taking the sample for this test.<\/p>\n<p>Instructions for preparation before the test<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 7 days before the test, it is not recommended to take medications that can cause bleeding in the digestive system and thus lead to false positive test results for occult bleeding in the stool. Such drugs are aspirin, indomethacin, phenylbutazone, corticosteroids, etc.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 testing should be postponed in case of diarrhea, menstruation, bleeding from hemorrhoids or hematuria<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 before the test for occult bleeding in the stool, which is based on the immunochemical method, no special diet is required before taking the sample<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 it is recommended to analyze three consecutive stools over three days<\/p>\n<p>For an accurate result, it is necessary to properly collect the samples:<\/p>\n<p>Samples are collected over three consecutive days in three containers. The containers contain a cover with an applicator with which we take a sample from three different places on the surface of three consecutive stools. Containers with samples are stored in the refrigerator, and after the third stool, the samples are delivered to the laboratory for analysis.<\/p>\n<p>The price of this test is HRK 36.00.
