DESCRIPTION:<\/strong>
\nIn the circulation, PSA is found in different molecular forms depending on what they associate with. PSA-ACT is an immunoreactive form of PSA associated with a1-antichymotrypsin and accounts for 60-90% of total PSA. in circulation. a2MG-PSA is a complex of PSA and a2-macroglobulin in a concentration of less than 0.1% of total PSA, and so far there is no test for its determination. Free PSA (fPSA) is an enzymatically inactive form and is found in the circulation in a concentration of 10-30%. fPSA is a very important parameter in the differential diagnosis of prostate disease. In order to obtain accurate results before taking a blood sample, the patient must not mechanically irritate the prostate (eg rectal examination, biopsy or resection of the prostate) in the last 72 hours, nor must the patient be exposed to intense physical activity. For example cycling can cause an increased concentration of PSA. Determination of fPSA should be done from the same sample at the same time as total PSA is determined.<\/p>\n

DETERMINATION:<\/strong>
\nWorking method: CMIA The sample for analysis is serum. The stability of the sample is 24 hours at 2-8\u00b0C, for a longer period -20\u00b0C.<\/p>\n

CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE:<\/strong>
\nDetermination of fPSA has no meaning unless the total PSA is determined from the same sample. There is also no medical justification to determine fPSA if the concentration of total PSA is greater than 25 micro g\/L. In healthy individuals and in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (hypertrophic prostate), the fPSA fraction is always higher than in patients with cancer. Based on the obtained results, it is considered that in patients in whom there is an indication for determining free PSA (total PSA concentration between 3.0 and 10.0 micro g\/L), it is always necessary to determine the percentage of free PSA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
