The sample is collected using cellophane tape (scotch tape), which is then affixed to a microscope slide after collection. Preferably two days, and obligatorily one day, before sampling, the patient must not wash the perianal region, as female *E. vermicularis* emerge at night and lay their eggs there, which are crucial for diagnosis. The slide should be wrapped in soft paper to prevent breakage during transport.
